Teen Organizes Makeover Day for Women in Need in Sacramento

London Hofer, a 17-year-old high school student, put together a special event to help women facing tough times in Sacramento. The event, called “Here’s to You,” gave eight women from a local support program a full makeover, including new hair, makeup, clothes, and shoes.

Why Makeovers Matter?

Hofer said, “Getting my hair done always makes me feel better on bad days.” She wanted to share that good feeling with others. The makeovers weren’t just about looks – they were meant to boost confidence too.

A Success Story

One woman who joined in was Angelique Duran. She had been through hard times but found help at the Women’s Empowerment Program. “I went from staying at a shelter to getting an $80,000 job in just six weeks,” Duran said. She now works as a paralegal and credits the program for her success.

Community Support and Collaboration

Local businesses and nonprofits played pivotal roles in ensuring the event’s success. The Closet Trading Company offered styling tips and donated clothing, aiming to give these women a fresh start. “We’re a women-led company and we want to uplift women. We know that feeling good, having something beautiful to wear can really help with your confidence,” a representative from the company stated.

Additionally, a nonprofit supporting domestic violence and crisis survivors also contributed, donating business attire and fun accessories in multiple sizes. “We are very fortunate that we could supply the clothes at this event,” they remarked, emphasizing their commitment to helping these women look and feel their best.

A Young Leader Making a Difference

Hofer showed great leadership in organizing this event. She believes that feeling good about how you look can help women do great things. “Every woman can be their best with that confidence,” she said.

This event in Sacramento showed how a little kindness can make a big difference. Hofer plans to do more events like this in the future to keep helping women in need.

We at Stockton CA News praise Hofer’s work and the positive impact it had on the women who took part.
