Los Angeles, CA – The police in Los Angeles are telling people to be careful because more homes are being robbed in fancy areas like Bel Air, Brentwood, and Westwood.
On Saturday night, three men with masks tried to break into a house on Roscomare Road in Bel Air. Police think six people were involved, but they ran away when they heard a police helicopter. On Friday night, someone broke into a house on South Bundy in Brentwood while people were home.
Family Sues Hospital After Woman’s Body Found a Year Later
Earlier this month, masked robbers were seen breaking into a house on San Vicente Boulevard in Brentwood. Police came quickly with a helicopter, but they’re still looking into what happened.
The police say these robbers work in groups of 2 to 4 men and usually rob empty houses. They use ladders or outdoor furniture to get in through upper floors, cut glass to enter, and look for valuable things like jewelry, expensive bags, and money. They often have cars waiting to help them escape quickly.
The robbers also use special tools to stop home security cameras from working and use radios to talk to each other.
To stay safe, the police say people should:
- Put up security cameras
- Make sure sliding glass doors are locked
- Secure safes and maybe put tracking devices on them
The police also say people should watch out for their neighbors and check their yards for hidden cameras. It’s important to tell the police if you see anything strange, even drones flying around.
